With its 40 years of history, the main tourist attraction of Kiskunmajsa is Jonathermál Thermal Spa and Water Park located 4 kms from the center of the town. The use of thermal water of 72°C with sodium bicarbonate content started in 1984. It was a byproduct of hydrocarbon mining that began in the 1960s.
Situated in a 20-hectare area covered with green lawn and trees, Jonathermál Thermal Spa and Water Park has qualified thermal pools. In the wooden structured hall of 1000 m2, there are two thermal pools of 36°C and 38°C, a therapeutic swimming pool of 25 m, a Finnish sauna, an aromatic sauna, a steam bath and a cold plunge pool. Outside, there also are thermal pools, wellness pools, a wave pool, a slide park and a swimming lake with a sandy beach.
The thermal water is recommended to treat degenerative musculoskeletal disorders, chronic inflammatory diseases, rehabilitation after surgery or fracture, gynecological diseases and paralysis after cerebral damage.
Contraindications include hypertension, feverish conditions, tuberculosis, malignant tumors and hyperthyroidism.
